So, I neglected to do my post for "Apple Family Reunion"! It was an episode I worked on a lot of Granny and Applebloom sitting on the sofa and looking at pictures... as well as the 7 legged race, and OH MAN was that ever hard. I think posing that stuff was the hardest thing I had to do on season 3! I also did AJ staring up at the 2 falling stars (Hold on, I have something in my eye). Oh, I almost forgot, I did the baby Applejack. I am surprised that I survived all that cuteness during production. I had to draw the back of her hair from scratch because she didn't have a back design, so that was fun! I love all the fanart of her, so damn cute!

It's gonna be a bit before my next episode though, I'll keep you guys updated as soon as the release date drops. This wait is KILLING me! Is it killing you? But with a short season, maybe it's okay to space it out so we can enjoy it longer.

Anyway, in other news, I'm super obsessed with "Harvest Moon: A New Beginning". I have only gotten to Town Restoration #3 and I'm hooked. But Neil is a jerk and Allen is a bit of a snot, so I really only like the girls so far... kinda wish I'd played a male and just crossdressed. :/ Maybe Soseki, Rod, Amir or Sanjay will work their ways into my heart? I have a ways to go before I get them though I think. I'm only in Summer year 1.

I am also stoked about Pokemon X/Y, and may even have convinced my bf to get a 3DS and Pokemon X or Y when it's out in October. He always used to hate Pokemon (Yeah, I know, right?) because the battle system was just a drawing that wiggles. Basically the battle animations(or lack thereof) turned him right off. This one may have gotten him on board. Wish me luck!

For anyone wondering what scenes I worked on, I posed out the majority of Scootaloo talking with Luna, The Dash and Scootaloo heart to heart and wing-hug, and Dash carrying Scootaloo like a plane.

Really happy overall with how it all turned out, and I hope you guys enjoyed watching it as much as I enjoyed working on it! <3

The next "My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic" episode is the first one of season 3 that I worked on!!! I can't wait to see what everyone thinks!

So excited!!!

So the trailer for a show I have been working on is up finally!

From what I understand the pets look different than the old ones? But when I was growing up they looked even more different than that! We worked pretty hard on it, so please give it a chance.

It's been a long while since I have been on here, I've been very busy with life!

I had a very painful breakup, finished up on season 2 of MLP:FiM, was featured in Animation Magazine(!), worked on Transformers Rescue Bots, and am now back at DHX working on the ponies you all know and love. I also started dating one of my wonderful fellow artists, and it's been nothing but joy. So ponies has brought me a lot of happiness and I owe this show so much. I think I will always be grateful for the people I've met through this job and this fandom. So thank you all for being awesome and for dressing up and drawing and writing and giving to charity and everything.

I draw so people will see, I draw to make people happy. If one person enjoys my art then I feel like it was all worth it. So I'll DEFINITELY try to update more. Really into BBC Sherlock right now, so expect some of that!

Since everyone's likely met our dear draconequus, Discord, it's common knowledge that John de Lancie of Star Trek:TNG fame voiced him.

I woke up this morning to find that one John de Lancie had posted about ponies.

So my boyfriend replied with this. (Also, yes, Alex knows I'm actually a Layout Artist but he finds it easier to just say "animator" to the average non-artist.)

@johndelancie: Tell her Bravo. She obviously works on a very popular show. I had not idea. She must be very talented.

After I'd finished hyperventilating, I decided to reply and thank him.

And he replied with "My pleasure. Talent is as talent does."

So yeah, I'm um..... kind of in fangirl mode. As a lifelong Trekkie, it was always kind of a "someday" dream... one day i will achieve career success and one of the actors will tell me I'm cool....COOLNESS HAS BEEN ACHIEVED. EVERYONE CAN GO HOME.

I think everyone will understand when I sum up my feelings with this clip.

So, we're well into production on season 2 of "My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic" , and I have to say that even during the hiatus, the fandom manages to blow me away!

So much content, from so many talented bronies. I knew many of you before, just from being a fellow cartoon fan, but now that I work on the show it gets a bit surreal for me. The Colbert Report shoutout, our director booked to go to a convention, it all feels like some odd fever dream!

The closest I've been to this before was the small but loyal group of Ruby Gloom fans and that only came years after production had ended.
I guess I can say that this is really where I hoped animation would ultimately lead me. I'm deliriously happy to be allowed to work on such an amazing show, with such an awesome team, and with such a great fanbase.

Brohoof to all, you guys help me get up in the mornings during deadlines!

So I just finished working on my last episode of Action Dad today(a show concept by the ever talented ) and I just received the contract for my next project. What timing!

The next show is a pretty popular one, and it involves little ponies!

Yes, I'll be on layout/posing for that for quite a bit of this coming year, and it's pretty much a dream come true. I started out as a humble brony(with friends who work on it, of course) , and now I'm being given a chance to work on My Little Pony season 2!

I won't be able to give spoilers(of course!), but I will likely keep drawing pony fanart! And i will probably get better at drawing them too!

My updates will be coming less, as you may have noticed. I'm animating on a pretty cool project called "Action Dad", which I'm told is based on concept and designs by the very talented

In the meantime I've been re-watching a lot of Britcoms I grew up with on the telly, like "Are You Being Served", "Red Dwarf" and "Blackadder". My mom is Scottish and sometimes I think my upbringing was a lot closer to a UK one than Canadian, because sometimes my friends have no clue what childhood food/shows I'm talking about. Anyway, expect a lot more Blackadder art from me, including one rather racy one.

Other than that, all my time is devoured by the animation schedule. Maybe some of you will check the show out when it is finally on!

I'm having a bad day.... week.... month? Well, this year hasn't been great so far. Health issues and job availability and stress in general.

Today I was feeling a sharp kind of agony over my deadline stress.... wondering why I even stay in this field. Why do I work so hard? Why do I do this to myself? Animation is hard. Not just the process, but all of the stuff that goes along with it. The drama, the late nights, the personal perfectionism, the missing props/builds/backgrounds. It all gets a bit much until I feel like I am getting an ulcer and anyeurism and a heart attack all at the same time.

Now I find it even more hilarious, but in a much darker way. That is truly the animation experience.

And just when I was feeling this all too keenly, today someone on deviantart messaged me to tell me today is the 4th year anniversary of Ruby Gloom being on TV, and to thank me for animating on a show that they love so much. Not only did they remember the air date of the show that was my entry into the animation world, but it's still something that matters to them.

It reminded me of why I do it. Sure, I worked on Ruby years ago, but it's still making people happy. And that's what it's all about, man. My stepfather is also in animation, and he worked on shows like Care Bears, and that's still remembered fondly after all these years. I can only hope that in 20+ years, that shows I had a hand in are still having fanart drawn, and people are still enjoying it. And maybe even the children of people who loved the shows are being introduced to them as well.

It's all an artist can really hope for isn't it? A certain kind of immortality.
That said, Ruby Gloom is STILL the best thing I have ever worked on. I hope one day to find another show I am just as proud of. And that's why I do this. It's what makes the late nights and drama and ulcers all worth it. It's you guys.

So to anyone who even knows who I am, if you follow my doodles on here or seen shows I have worked on, I just wanted to thank you. Thanks! You are why I do what I do.

I managed to convince my bf to pick up Chrono Trigger because he's never played it! He's enjoying it so far, we just hit the Underwater Palace.... I'm enjoying watching him play more than I thought I would. And it's cool to watch him encounter characters for the first time as well.

Okay, this may be controversial....

I hate bases. Lately, many of the clubs I am in have been suffering from an influx of "bases". If you do not know what a base is, it is pretty much a pixel drawing that someone has made for other "artists" to use to draw on top of. Like a dress up doll.

And that's well and good. Some of them are really well done, like the ones at Lunaii. Whatever I may feel about the people drawing over these ones is moot, as the original artist clearly put in a lot of time and effort.

But most of the bases people are making now are simply low quality pixel traceovers of someone else's art. One pixel width outlines of what they think the character's body looks like under their clothes. And usually with a piss poor understanding of anatomy. No shading. Basically sucking out any warmth or character of the original piece. The original piece that the artist generally worked VERY HARD on. So when I join a deviantart club for an anime/show/comic I enjoy, I expect finished original works to be posted. Not traced unfinished crap STOLEN pixel art. Seriously, I opened up one club's submissions today and found 7/14 submissions were shitty bases. And 2 of the remaining 7 were simply drawovers of OTHER bases.

My hatred for bases is unfathomable. Sure, trace over a well drawn ORIGINAL piece and call it your own, then tell people it's "okay to use" in their art?
I mean, really. The only person who can give permission is THE ORIGINAL ARTIST. Not to mention a lot of base tracers don't give proper credit, and think no one will ever find the obscure Pixiv account of whoever DID put in the time and effort. Sneaky. And then some go further and insist on being credited, or require no "frankendolling", which is modifying the tracers work.... ironically.

And then scads of talentless hacks draw all over the bases and are all "What, I credited the base maker! I didn't do anything bad!" ignoring the fact that the person who made the base basically STOLE that work in the first place. It was not their place to give permission.
I don't have as much of a problem with people who make bases from their own drawings, but I certainly am not impressed by any of the subsequent derivative works.

You don't learn anything that way.

And it never looks that great, as anyone who can't be arsed to even draw a pixely anime human form is probably not going to be much better at fabric and hair.

Have a new job, it's for a promotional bit for a show series and will be airing at MIPCOM..... I'll be animating and prop building.

That starts Tuesday, so yay! I love being back at work making cartoons for you all to enjoy. Or to hate. I mean, everyone's tastes are different.
As soon as I can talk about it I'll let everyone know what show it is!

On another note, I am excited about quite a few things. August has the gay pride parade, my birthday, my boyfriends' birthday, the anime con(and my vocaloid Magnet cosplay group), and the Supernatural convention! HOLY CRAP!

Another thing I'm psyched about is Avatar: The Legend of Korra!

Production is going to wrap in about 2 weeks... and Neighbours From Hell will be airing soon!

It's kind of cool to be on such a big show, I visited a link to The Onion and saw and advertisement for the show in the sidebar! I get to animate characters with the voices of Will Sasso, Molly Shannon, and Patton Oswalt! Pretty cool, if you ask me!

We got to have a viewing of 2 completed episodes at the studio(with beer and popcorn!) and it's really funny and just a great show overall. Really edgy humour and some good gags in there too! I only started during episode 4, so I won't be seeing my work on TV for a few weeks after it airs. It's been a lot of work, a lot of hours(I'm animating at home right now! And will be all weekend!) but seeing it really makes me remember why I got into this industry and why it's all worth it in the end.

I sure love having a slow loading time on every deviation as it loads the comments.I especially love all the blank space and the lost buttons. I love not being able to search from any page I'm on and having to return to the homepage.

I also love that I can't see WHAT messages I have, it's just in one big lump. It could be a note, or a fave, or a comment or a deviation, I JUST DON'T KNOW until I mouse over it. It's like a big fun surprise!

OH. MY FAVOURITE PART is having to click twice on every image to get it at a larger size, when I used to have that setting ticked in my preferences. It's great.
