I know this post was made a while ago, but I want to reply. I think that a pony who loses their special talent, might go insane. Just look at Pinkie she thought her friends didn't like her party's and well... you know. And say the lose their talent because something physicly happened to them. (Like say Rainbow couldn't fly anymore) I think the effect would be the same.
